Getting around Pula
BUS
The city is not very large and it is possible to get around on foot. However for the less athletic, Pula is equipped with a bus network. Public transport in Pula is managed by the Croatian company Pulapromet. The city center is very well connected to other parts of the city by buses. Public transport is divided into four zones. The first zone includes the city of Pula, the second zone includes Medulin, Vodnjan, Loznjan, Premantura and Peroj. The third zone goes to Barbariga.
In Pula, public transport is organized with 8 bus lines. A bus ticket can be purchased directly from the driver and the price is 11 kn. The ticket is only valid in one direction and is valid for one hour. Students can benefit from cheaper monthly packages at a price of 15 euros.
Taxis
After 10 p.m. there are no more buses running, but don't worry it is very easy to get around Pula after this time. Taxi is the second best means of transport in Pula, especially Cammeo taxis. Cammeo is a Croatian technology company that develops and operates mobile applications for putting users in contact with drivers providing transport services. The Cammeo application is very quick to download and very intuitive. Thanks to this application, it is possible to have a taxi in less than 5 minutes. It's a bit like the Croatian version of Uber.
They work like a shared taxi, so it is quite possible that next to you, they will take another person in the same direction or to the same destination as yours. Their prices are unbeatable. The entrance fee is six kuna (approximately € 0.80), each kilometer is also six kuna and each minute is charged one kuna (approx. € 0.13). So before your stay in Croatia, do not hesitate to download this app.
Traveling from Pula
Bus
Pula's main bus station is located less than a 20-minute walk from the city center with many intercity and international connections. The bus station of Pula connects a lot of croatian cities, but also neighboring countries as Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, ... You can buy your ticket online or at the bus station. Bus timetables are available on the getbybus.com website. Bus drivers having a duty of punctuality, it is strongly advised to arrive at least 30 min before the departure of your bus. Access on board is very simple. Just show your reservation to the bus driver. If you are a student, do not hesitate to present your student card for a 30% promotion. It is a very affordable way to travel within Croatia and outside of Croatia.

Rent a car
Croatia has a high score in the construction of road infrastructure. All parts of Croatia (except the south) are connected by high quality motorways. By investing in transport infrastructure, Croatia allows its visitors a pleasant and safe drive. Renting a car in Pula is about 10 € / day to 30€ /day. The largest cities in Croatia are connected by a relatively practical and modern network of motorways. You must pay for highways by toll, with national currency, in euros or by bank card. You can also pay using electronic toll cards that install on the windshield and connect electronically with toll devices.
Pula Airport is one of nine airports in Croatia, located 5 km from the center of Pula. It is not a large airport.
Pula is well served by regular lines from all major European cities, especially in the summer months. By the national air carrier Croatia Airlines from Pula against European cities also flew with Ryan air, Jet 2 Com, Norwegian, Air Serbia, Globus Airlines, Transavia, Windrose, Ukraine Airlines, Thomson Airways, Aer Lingus, VUELING and Easy Jet. Outside of the tourist season, Pula airport is much less active and there are far fewer international flights. In addition, flights outside of the summer season are much more expensive than usual. It is therefore better to favor flights from Venice airport located 5 hours by bus from Pula, which, unlike Pula airport, is much busier than that of Pula, whatever the season.
These electronic toll cards are available in prepaid 300, 500 and 900 kuna, which you can buy at HAK stations and certain service stations. Please note that to rent a rental car in Croatia, you will need to have a national (or sometimes international) driving license for at least 2 years and be over 21 years old. When you pick up your rental car, you must present the booking voucher as well as your driving license, passport or identity card and valid credit card to the rental agency. Debit cards or prepaid credit cards are not usually accepted. Renting a car allows you to explore Croatia at your own pace.
train
The train in Croatia is not the most developed mode of transport but it offers many advantages. Pula train station is located near the Pietas nightclub at: Kolodvorska 5, 52100 Pula.The train will allow you to go from Zagreb to Rijeka and vice versa, from Zagreb to Split, and to visit the East of the country by directing you from Zagreb to Osijek. The train is often quite slow, it will be better suited to those who are not in a hurry. However if you choose to travel by train you will enjoy discovering very beautiful landscapes especially in the interior of the country which is less known to tourists. Trains are also a good way to travel from Pula on a small budget. A train ticket usually doesn't exceed 30€ , and students can also have a discount upon presentation of the student card.
