Rovinj, is a small picturesque village bordered by the sea of the Istrian peninsula. The history of the city dates back to Illyrian times, when the people of Istria traded with the ancient Greeks and revolted against the Romans.

I went to Rovinj with a group of spanish students and four of my ERASMUS friends from Russia, Romania and Spain. We took a bus from Pula which is about 45 minutes away from Rovinj.  We visited the Church of St. Euphemia which dominates the town and offers a breathtaking landscape of Rovinj. Rovinj has a lot of affordable traditional restaurants , so no need to bring your own lunch with you.

We also went to the market of Rovinj - "It's the best place to buy truffles in Croatia", told us an inhabitant of the town. Indeed, Rovinj is known for producing the world's best truffles. The market is very lively and is surrounded by a wealth of colors and smells of olive oil, truffles and wine. In front of the city , there is an island called Otok Sveta Katarina (which just means St. Catherine's island) which is 3 minutes away from Rovinj by boat. It is really small (about 0.124km2 ) and is covered of pine forest, but it is one of the best place to admire gorgeous Rovinj's landscapes.
