Let's discover Croatia
Products you should try in Croatia
If one day you have to shop in a supermarket in Croatia, you will not be able to miss some products without having to test them. They are found every day and embody the Balkan spirit. Here is my small selection of the 4 products not to be missed during your stay in Croatia! Are you ready ?! Your taste buds will wriggle.
1
Lino Lada
Croatian version of Nutella, Lino Lada is loved by young and old and is the ideal ally for a good snack.
Mainly eaten for breakfast, spread on a slice of bread with a cup of hot chocolate, this creamy chocolate paste delights children. Adults prefer to taste it by spreading it on slices of croissant (fatty but so good). Made from hazelnuts, milk powder, whey powder and sugar, it is much better than Nutella spread in my opinion.
In addition, Lino lada has two different sections in the jar: a chocolate part with hazelnuts and a white milk-based part. Something to delight the most greedy and undecided.
To make even more happy, Lino lada has released other variations: the classic, just nougat, just milk, milk with coconut and the regular one with pieces of crushed hazelnuts. Personally, I have a fondness for the coconut version. I ate tons and tons with my roommate during my stay in Croatia (thank God I do a lot of sport).

Truffle chips
For less than 3 Euros, any amateur of great gastronomy can afford something to make their aperitif more refined. Zigante tartufi is a famous company in Croatia that sells truffles and truffle products. Once you have tried these homemade chips, no other chips will be the same. These crisps have a very pronounced taste in truffles. You must therefore appreciate the truffle to try them. In addition to the quality of the potato, the presence of the truffle, delicate, subtle and summery, raises this product to the rank of gastronomy of the best garden parties
Cedevita
This orange flavored powder is present on all coffee bar tables and on all kitchen shelves. Just pour a tablespoon of this powder into a large glass of water to taste an orange soda. You don't like orange? No worries, there are also other versions of Cedevita: grape, lemon, lime, or lime and mint flavor. With its 9 vitamins (C, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12), this miracle powder is known to give children enough energy to stay alert during long hours of school.
2
Vegeta
Watching my Croatian roommate cook, I noticed that she was using this mixture all the time.
The Vegeta mixture can be used in soups, rice, pasta, and sauces, it's a bit like the Croatian Kub'Or. It contains mustard, turmeric, paprica, dried vegetables (carrots, onions, etc.), and dried herbs (bay leaves, rosemary, thyme, etc.) In Croatia, they put it all way! They use it in any dish they prepare to spice up basic food preparations. I tested this mixture on butter popcorn, it's a killer!
