Let's discover Croatia
A sneak peak of Croatia
Croatia is a country in central and southern Europe whose capital is Zagreb, with a population of around 4.6 million.
Croatia is divided into 5 main regions (from north to south): Slavonia, Central Croatia, Istria, the Kvarner Gulf, and Dalmatia.
Croatia also has more than 700 islands scattered over the Adriatic Sea. Some are uninhabited and still in the wild. The main islands are Brač, Hvar, Vis, Korcula and Mljet. They are mainly accessible from the ports of Split and Dubrovnik.
Languages
The official language of Croatia is Croatian, however Italian, and German are also very widespread in Croatia. Italian is mainly spoken towards the Dalmatian coast and in Istria (in Pula for example). German is very present in Slavonia and Central Croatia because Croatia is an ancient region of the Austrian-Hungarian empire. Similarly, English is increasingly spoken by the population (especially the youngest), due to the current tourist development of the country
Although Croatia is part of the European Union (since 2013), the country is not yet part of the Euro zone. The Croatian currency is called "kuna", 1 kuna is made up of 100 Lipas (which means lime tree in Croatian). The 1 or 2 Lipas coins are very rare because their value is very low. The exchange rate is as follows: 1 kuna = 0.13 € and 1 € = 7.45 kunas. Payment in Euro is sometimes accepted, notably by transport companies like Flixbus, but also at motorway tolls.

Croatia is today one of the most popular and recognized tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.
This country receives on average more than 18.5 million tourists every year! Tourism represents a significant part of the Croatian economy, around 25% of its GDP.
Croatia has the particularity of mixing charming cities, heavenly beaches and sublime landscapes. The country is just as suitable for families looking for a relaxing holiday by the beach as it is for sports enthusiasts seeking thrills, but also for partygoers arriving in large numbers each summer.
