Let's discover Croatia
The "Do's" And The "Don'ts"
THE "DO'S"
1 - Enjoy revising your lessons by the sea (it's my guilty pleasure) instead of staying at home, if the opportunity arises to go on the beach.
2 - Bring the right equipment
Not all beaches in Croatia are sandy beaches. Although there are sandy beaches, most of them have pebbles or sharp rocks, so buy beach shoes.
3 - Enjoy the local food. I never had a bad meal since I live in Pula. From the delicious pastry to fresh seafood to excellent Italian dishes, you can't go wrong with restaurants, bakeries, or bars.
4 - Try to speak croatian. Never shy away from practising your Croatian around native speakers. They will always appreciate your efforts, even if you have only managed to learn three basic words.
5 - Watch out for gulls in the city center. Unafraid, they do not hesitate to steal sandwiches and pastries from the hands of passers-by. (Yes it happened to me😅😖)

THE "DON'TS"
1 - Don’t cross against a red light. The Croatian gendarmes will not fail to fine you for this (around 30 euros).
2 - Don’t forget to take warm clothes. The temperatures are milder than in France but the winters can sometimes be very harsh.
3 - Don’t call Croatia "Yugoslavia". They obtained their independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. Proudly independent today, to call a Croat, Yugoslav would almost be considered as an affront.
4 - Don’t run out of cash. Some restaurants and almost all private accommodation only accept cash. Fortunately you can find ATMs in every town, airport, ferry terminal and bus station.
5 - Don’t Worry if You Don’t Speak Croatian. Many Croats speak English.
